Country Great Farms is a work in progress, continuously being improved. We wanted a farm to grow food free from pesticides, chemical fertilizers and other toxins.

Finding a farm that has not had the soil treated with chemical fertilizers or sprayed with pesticides was not possible. We then set our sights on older abandon or no longer farmed land preferable a hay or grass farms. After a year of searching we bought just that. An old abandoned rundown 60 acre cattle farm that had sat unworked for many years. The pastures had gone wild with grasses were over 6 feet tall the barns had old hay and manure piled three (3) feet high. The doors were missing. 

We both saw the potential. Our families thought we were crazy (we could be). However we saw a start to our plans of living free of chemicals and GMO food in our lives. The old hay and manure was piled high to become compost for our fresh vegetables.

We bought an old tractor with a brush hog and started cutting the pastures as this was being mowed fresh orchard grass was taking the place of weeds giving way to green pastures for our small herd of alpine goats, Kunekune pigs, Blue butts pigs, 24 laying hens one rooster and 135 meat chickens.

You are invited to stop by and buy fresh veggies some pasture raised chicken eggs or a few chickens for ​the barbecue. Visit with our goat or watch the sweetest Kunekune pigs eating organic grass from beautiful green pastures. We also make homemade all organic soaps, lotions and lip balms. At the end of spring 2019 we will be selling raw goat’s milk (not for human consumption).
